October 26, 2018 @ 8:00 pm
Robert Moore
Singer/Composer, Trumpet and Harmonica player
Robert Moore has evolved a sound of his own, mixing his southern roots influences of soul and gospel into his own interpretations of bebop and swinging jazz. His music invokes shadings of King Pleasure, Mark Murphy, Mose Allison, and Ella are heard alongside those of Chet Baker and Otis Redding.
Whether leading with his horn into familiar standards, scatting imaginative ideas straight from the heart, blowing creative lines on his harmonica, or exposing listeners to interspersed originals, Moore cuts to the heart of a song, opening up sounds in new ways and winning fans with his frequent notes of humor.
Accompanying Robert will be Dan Gildea on guitar, Bill Athens on bass, Willie Matheis on Saxophone and with special guest Al Martin on percussion.
Joining Robert is Astoria’s own David Drury.
